Fair Hiring: Best Practices in Staff Recruiting – Online Training
Attracting and hiring the most qualified candidates is essential for achieving our mission at UC Santa Cruz. In this training you will learn campus best practices to ensure fairness and excellence in all stages of the recruitment process. The training covers such topics as developing effective recruitment plans, the search committee's role and responsibilities, evaluating applications, interviewing, reference checking and final selection for hire. It also includes a discussion of bias theory and first impressions, benefits of a diverse workforce, and information on laws and policies related to equal employment opportunity, affirmative action, and disabilities.
Please note: This is a mandatory training. Hiring managers and those serving as search committee chairs must renew their training every three years.
Access to the online training requires a password. If you wish to take the online training, please contact the Office for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at odei@ucsc.edu and you will receive a response that includes instructions and a password. If you have questions, please call 459-1758.
