Event & Outreach Coordinator
Aracely Aceves Lozano (she/her/ella) joined the Office for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (ODEI) team in March 2024 as the Event and Outreach Coordinator. In this inaugural role, Aracely is responsible for organizing inclusive and engaging events that cultivate belonging and celebrate diversity for students, staff, faculty, alumni, and community members.
Aracely’s work is deeply informed by her passion for educational equity, shaped by both her personal and professional experiences. Before her current role, Aracely served as the Assistant Director for Undocumented Student Services within the Educational Opportunity Programs (EOP) office at UC Santa Cruz, where she advocated for undocumented students, collaborated to create inclusive experiential learning opportunities, and increased awareness of the diverse lived experiences of the undocumented community.
Prior to transitioning to higher education, Aracely was the Director of Community Relations for the San Luis Obispo County Food Bank. In this role, she supported individuals and families facing food insecurity, partnered with executive staff to develop high-yield fundraising campaigns, managed relationships with over 120 affiliated local nonprofits, and oversaw the organization’s marketing and communications plan, including branding and social media.
Aracely holds a Bachelor’s degree in psychology and a Master’s degree in higher education counseling and student affairs from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. Her academic background, combined with her extensive volunteer and work experience, equips her with a unique perspective and skill set in her role as a higher education practitioner.
Outside of work, Aracely enjoys exploring trails with her dog Rico, caring for her indoor plants, and spending quality time with her family.
